To my girl

My Little Piece of Heaven

I knew right away you were there
The beautiful answer to our prayer
No one can tell me it was luck that I knew
I carried a daughter of God in my womb

I wanted to tell Daddy in a special way
But there were only two words I could say
“I’m Pregnant!” I screamed so loud in his ear
I wanted the whole world to hear

The outline of your little foot in my belly
Watching it move from side to side
I loved every wiggle, I loved every kick
I loved to feel you move in my stomach

Forty weeks came, forty weeks went
You were still yet to be present
I walked and walked and walked up that hill
Hoping labor I would fulfill

I wanted to see you
To hold you and feed you
At last see your face, your hands and your feet
I knew only then we would be complete

The day finally came for your great debut
Your beautiful screaming face when I first saw you.
Your eyes so wide, so alert with surprise
Created in me a love so overwhelming it brought tears to my eyes

You’re getting so big now, you’re growing so fast
Bottles and bouncers are things of the past
You can sing me songs, you can count to ten
You love to read books over and over again

My darling girl you are a beauty
So innocent and pure
Your big blue eyes, your golden curly hair
Would make anyone stop and stare.

Haven, please know that I love you
There is nothing that I wouldn’t do
To make you happy, comfortable and well
You make me so proud, my heart to swell

Sweet little girl, you have my whole heart
We are sealed forever, never to part

Spot

I just had to put this on here. Haven loves walking her little plastic puppy around the neighborhood. "Walk! Puppy!" She'll say, and we'll take the little squeaky guy for a walk. His name is Spot.
So...if you ever hear a strange squeaking noise out your window, don't be alarmed. It's only Spot.

Dinner time at our house

I loooove being a mommy. There are many reasons...but really where else can you go where someone spits out the food you cooked for them and then throws it at you but still you just love them with all your heart and soul? Feeding a toddler, as many of you already know, is such a challenge sometimes. And by sometimes I mean about 3 times a day. But....you do it and happily because you want them to be healthy and happy and you know no one else can do it better than you.
"Feeding" a toddler doesn't simply mean get the food and put it in their mouth. There is a lot that goes on to accomplish the task of getting the food from the plate to the tummy. For me these include:
  • Singing songs, lots of them.
  • Toys, toys, toys...and if that doesn't work, other household items.
  • Asking questions such as, "Haven, what color are your eyes?", "Where's daddy?", "Can you count your toes?", "What's your middle name?", "What color is this?", "Tell me about the park." "What does a cow say?"...and the list goes on.
  • And if nothing works...Elmo movies or any other kind of show that keeps their attention. Yes, I do give into this at times. I will confess that I love that Sesame Street comes on exactly during lunch time. Thank you PBS kids.

Haven's guide to eating dinner:

Step 1. Spit out the food.

Step 2. Put it on your nose. Step 3. Throw the rest on the floor.Step 4. OK. Now time to throw the sippy cup. Read, Aim... Step 5. FIRE!

Step 6. Mimic mommy. Shake your finger and say, "No, no, no!".

Step 7. Try to take your bib off...before you've actually eaten anything.

Log cabins and cabbage soup

<-----My husband over there is king of sleep talking. We can be in mid-conversation...and he'll all of a sudden make the most random comment that makes no sense at all and I know he's gone. Granted this happens late at night when our toddler is asleep and all of the adult conversation that I've been storing up all day comes flying out of my mouth at full speed. I can talk to him for hours and he is content to listen but eventually his sleepiness gets the best of him and he'll fall asleep but continue to talk to me. Like, for instance, tonight I was telling him something super important like how the shirt I was wearing was bugging me and I saw these really cute shoes the other day and he answered me by saying, "Just eat some cabbage soup." WHAT?? your probably thinking, right? Don't worry, this is completely normal behaviour. Sometimes I play along and so I told him we did not have any cabbage soup and he replied by saying, "It's around the tomato cage." Yeah. I have a billion stories like this. I think the best one was actually in the middle of the day, we were sitting up and he was kinda leanin back relaxing and we were talking about Haven and all of sudden he says, "Log cabins can't go over speed bumps."

I love you honey <3

No one told me I was going to find you...unexpected what you did to my heart.

<-----This is my best friend. His name is Scott :) I love him with all my heart. I also love this picture. It was a taken back when we were dating. We were on our way to a Rascal Flatts concert, hence the cowboy hat. Which, by the way was one of our funnest dates EVER. OOh. Here's a picture of us at the concert in Vegas ---->

The stage is behind us you just cant see it.

The truth is he is my everything. My other half. My eternal companion. We've been through a lot together and no matter what happens he makes me happier than anyone or anything else in this world. I love everything about him. Yes, honey, from the strange way you make your smores to the pile of clothes in your side of the bathroom every morning. I love the person he was and is and will be as we grow and change together. He is so talented and good at pretty much anything. I'm not kidding. He is so smart and is such an amazing father to our daughter. She's got him wrapped around her little finger. If anyone is going to get angry or yell or lose their temper with our children...it wont be him. He has so much patience for our sweet lil' Haven. And, is such a good friend to her. The first thing she does when he comes home is dance around the living room and says " Daddy dance, dance, dance!", because he always dances with her when he gets home from work.

20 reasons why he's my one 'n only:

  1. He is worthy to take me to the temple so that I will be his wife for eternity.

  3. He holds me every night while I fall asleep.

  4. He will go downstairs and check for robbers at anytime of the night.:)

  10. He serenades me on the piano.

  11. He tells me I cook better than his mom even though I don't.

  12. He loves to hear me sing.

  13. He's good with money.

  14. He makes me feel safe.

  15. He empties the dishwasher periodically. :)

  16. He gave up 2 years of his life to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the people of Mexico.

  17. He kisses and hugs me before doing anything else when he comes home.

  18. He is a black belt. So be careful. haha jk.
